Call for World Health Assembly 2017

Dates: 22–31 May 2017

Place: Geneva, Switzerland

The World YMCA is opening up the possibility for YMCA leaders interested in Health Related Issue to participate of the World Health Assembly 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland.

This is in connection with the development of our Resource Group on Health.

As the World YMCA currently do not have official registration with WHO for conferences (the process takes 2 years)  – The selected delegates will access the venue for the meeting with badges that are distributed in limited numbers every morning at the WHO reception, therefore there is a small risk of not being able to get in for all days of the conference.

The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of WHO. It is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States and focuses on a specific health agenda prepared by the Executive Board. The main functions of the World Health Assembly are to determine the policies of the Organization, appoint the Director-General, supervise financial policies, and review and approve the proposed programme budget. The Health Assembly is held annually in Geneva, Switzerland.

Our goals for this event are:

  • Have a better perspective on how YMCAs can engage with the World Health by exploring means for engagement.
  • Have a personal learning experience about how these session’s works.

We have 3 places available and the conditions are:

  • Each participant pays his or her travel to and from Switzerland.
  • The World YMCA provide accommodation and up to CHF 20 for food given participants present receipts. The participant must meet additional costs.
  • The World YMCA do not organize/finance accommodation for periods outside of the indicated dates If participant wants to stay longer, we can provide information around accommodation.
